Dr. Herbert O. Tietzer, age 83, of Ft. Myers FL and formerly of Michigan City, IN, passed away on Monday, May 14, 2012 in Ft. Myers, FL.
Dr. Tietzer is survived by his wife: June (Henke)Tietzer; children: Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Tietzer, Dr. Gregory (Marti) Tietzer, Julie (Dr. Alan) Rembos and grandchildren: Angela, Michelle, Nicole, Daniel, Glenne, Paige, Marissa and Taylor. He was preceded in death by his parents: Herbert O. Tietzer Sr. and Ruth Westphal Tietzer.
Herb graduated from Michigan City Elston High School and attended Indiana University where he was a member of Phi Kappa Psi national fraternity. Herb earned his BA from the University of California Berkeley in Physiology and Anatomy. He graduated from Indiana University School of Dentistry. He was a member and elder of First Presbyterian Church in Michigan City, IN and belonged to the American Dental Association. Dr. Tietzer served as a dentist in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1961 and then had a private practice in Michigan City until 1984. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 3:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church, Michigan City, IN with Pastor Ericka Parkinson-Kilbourne officiating.
Friends may meet with the family on Saturday, May 19, 2012 directly at First Presbyterian Church from 1:00 PM until time of service at 3:00 PM. Memorial Contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 121 W. 9th St. Michigan City, IN 46360 or a Hospice of donor’s choice.
